Where it stands

As of 7 Jul 2026

As of 2026-07-07: no general-public face-value Random Drawing exists and there is no indication it will return for Super Bowl LXII. The NFL discontinued it starting with Super Bowl LII (February 2018 game); confirmed still absent through Super Bowl LIX/LX coverage (January 2025 press: 'the league discontinued that practice in 2017') and Ticketmaster's February 2026 Super Bowl LXI buying guide, which lists no lottery.

How tickets actually work

Not possible. The premise of a certified/registered-mail entry postmarked 2027-02-01 to 2027-06-01 describes the NFL's OLD program, which no longer exists. Letters mailed to the old Strongsville, OH P.O. box in 2027 would not enter any active drawing.

Your odds

Historic only: the pre-2017 drawing reportedly selected on the order of 500 winners from a very large national mail-in pool, so odds were very low. Today the equivalent tickets (about 500 per year) are given away free to fans hand-picked by the 32 clubs and the league, with no public application.

Good to know

Verification of each claimed detail of the old program (all confirmed as the HISTORIC pre-2017 rules, not current): entries by certified or registered mail to Super Bowl Random Drawing, P.O. Box 49140, Strongsville, OH 44149-0140, postmarked between Feb 1 and Jun 1 of the year before the game; only one request per household address (duplicate/multiple requests disqualified); winners (commonly reported as about 500 per year) won the right to purchase 2 tickets at face value; ALL entrants (winners and losers) were notified by USPS mail in October-November, with winner letters explaining how to complete the purchase. The NFL's own help-center article (updated 2017-10-19, archived) states that instead of conducting the lottery it reallocated those tickets to a giveaway of 500 free Super Bowl tickets to fans selected by clubs (community heroes, superfans), i.e. not a public-entry ballot; that text remained on support.nfl.com through at least October 2022, after which the article was removed. The only surviving public ballot is the separate ADA Random Drawing (see companion record). Official NFL sweepstakes (e.g. NFL+ Super Bowl Sweeps, which drew a winner of 2 free SB LX tickets around 2026-02-02) award free tickets as marketing promotions but are not a face-value purchase ballot. Event date note: mercedesbenzstadium.com lists Super Bowl LXII as 2028 with times TBA; Wikipedia and NFL.com say the exact date depends on the 17-vs-18-game decision for the 2027 season, so the task's '13 Feb 2028' is a projection, not an official date.
