Where it stands

As of 5 Oct 2026

The free Ticket Oosumo lottery for this tournament ran 11:00 JST 30 Jul 2026 to 23:00 JST 2 Aug 2026, with results from about 18:00 JST 4 Aug 2026 and automatic payment by 23:30 JST 5 Aug 2026.

The Ticket Pia pre-reserve lottery followed (entries 4 Aug 2026 to 5 Aug 2026, results about 7 Aug 2026), and the general sale that opened 10:00 JST 8 Aug 2026 sold out: sumo.pia.jp marks it '完売御礼' (sold out). Wheelchair seats were reserved separately by phone from 10:00 JST on 24 Aug 2026.

The tournament ran 13 Sept 2026 to 27 Sept 2026 at Ryogoku Kokugikan, Tokyo. The September 2027 tournament (12 Sept 2027 to 26 Sept 2027, general sale 7 Aug 2027) has its own record.

How to enter

The free Ticket Oosumo lottery for the September 2026 tournament (Aki Basho) ran from 11:00 JST on 30 Jul 2026 to 23:00 JST on 2 Aug 2026 at sumo.pia.jp. It was a random draw, with results by MyPage and email about 18:00 JST on 4 Aug 2026, and the card on file was charged automatically by 23:30 JST on 5 Aug 2026.

Your odds

No official odds published; fully random draw. Weekend and final-weekend days heavily oversubscribed; recent tournaments (including July 2026) sold out entirely, so lottery is the realistic route for prime days.

Good to know

This free draw was one rung of a ladder, not the only chance. Two paid Fan Club rounds ran before it, and a separate Ticket Pia pre-reserve draw and then the general sale came after it; in this cycle the general sale opened on 8 Aug 2026 and sold out.
The lottery exists only on the Japanese-language site. The official English site is first come, first served from the general sale date, adds a JPY 2,000 per ticket fee, and issues tickets for pickup at 7-Eleven stores inside Japan.
A win is not something you accept. The card on file is charged automatically between the close and the results, so apply only for days and seat types you actually want.
