The September Ballot for the 2027 AJ Bell Great North Run (Sunday 12 Sept 2027) closed 23:59 on Sunday 20 Sept 2026 and was drawn Monday 21 Sept 2026: greatrun.org confirms all entrants have been emailed their result.

Entry cost GBP 70, charged only if selected. A second chance is confirmed for 2027: entrants not selected in September can enter a January general ballot, with final places confirmed then; a sign-up reminder for that round is live on the event page now.

How to enter

The September Ballot has closed (23:59 on Sunday 20 Sept 2026, drawn Monday 21 Sept 2026) and every entrant has been emailed their result. The open route now is the January general ballot: sign up for greatrun.org's reminder on the event page to be notified when it opens, per a 11 Sept 2026 news article quoting Great Run Company chief executive Paul Foster, who told unsuccessful September applicants they 'will have another chance to secure entry in January', with 'final places confirmed then'. Great North Run members skip any ballot with guaranteed entry (2026/2027 membership places are sold out per the current page); charity places and elite entry are the other fallbacks.
