The Games ran 19 Sept 2026 to 4 Oct 2026.
Tickets were sold first come, first served with no lottery at any stage: the official ticket site said 'All tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis (no lottery sales)'. General sale opened 30 Jun 2026 17:00 JST and each session sold until its own date, except the ceremonies, whose sales closed at 23:59 JST on 14 Sept 2026 (opening) and 29 Sept 2026 (closing).
A free Supporter ID (Ouen-ID) was needed to buy on the official site; Ticket Pia and TBS Tickets sold a partial subset of sports through their own free memberships, and CBC Ticket Center sales had ended. From 14 Jul 2026 sessions that might get more seats were labelled 'Currently Unavailable' rather than 'Sold Out', and inventory did come back: extra sales for selected sessions opened 4 Aug 2026 and 19 Aug 2026, and extra opening-ceremony tickets were released 8 Sept 2026.
The official resale service launched 4 Aug 2026, with some competitions excluded. Three late routes opened in the run-up: Asian Q Ticket, Asian Para Q Ticket and discounted After 4 Tickets (all announced 18 Aug 2026); in-person sales at the City Ticket Office at Oasis 21 (20 Aug 2026 to 6 Sept 2026) and the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Ticket Center in Sakae, Nagoya; and same-day sales from 2 Sept 2026.
Convenience-store payment was discontinued on 1 Sept 2026. Rowing and equestrian schedule changes and two rain- or condition-cancelled cricket matches were refunded only for sessions that stopped running.
Tickets bought through unofficial channels were not accepted for entry. As of 23 Sept 2026 the organisers reported 90% or more sold for the opening ceremony and 13 sports, 80-90% for 7 more sports, and football, baseball, hockey and cricket at large venues still readily available.
